ARCA Sets New November Reporting Triggers for Banks and Virtual Wallets in Argentina

The agency will convert foreign currency and crypto to pesos at month end to test limits, with documentation requests possible if origins of funds are unclear.

Overview

  • Monthly reporting is triggered when individual accounts record ARS 50,000,000 or more in inflows, outflows, or end‑of‑month balance, with a ARS 30,000,000 threshold for businesses.
  • Banks and wallet providers must submit account identifiers, holder details, total monthly credits and debits, and the final balance only when those thresholds are met, whether the balance is positive or negative.
  • Foreign‑currency amounts are converted using Banco Nación’s buyer rate on the last business day of the month, while crypto is valued at the provider’s last buyer quotation at month close.
  • Additional limits now in force include cash withdrawals from ARS 10,000,000, term deposits at ARS 100,000,000 for individuals and ARS 30,000,000 for businesses, consumer purchases from ARS 10,000,000, payments at ARS 50,000,000/ARS 30,000,000, and brokerage holdings at ARS 100,000,000/ARS 30,000,000.
  • When thresholds are exceeded, institutions must report the activity to ARCA, which may demand proof of funds and apply sanctions such as fines or temporary blocks on bank accounts and credit cards.
