Overview
- Deputies were dispatched around 7:12–7:15 a.m. to the Walmart at 10900 E. Briarwood Avenue in Centennial on a report of shoplifting.
- The sheriff's office says the man advanced on deputies with a machete and a knife, a Taser was ineffective, and a deputy then fired.
- Deputies provided medical aid, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene outside the store.
- The 18th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team is investigating, and the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office will release the man’s identity.
