ARAI’s ADAS Test City Near Pune Passes 90% Completion Ahead of December 12 Showcase

The pseudo-city track will let manufacturers validate driver-assistance features under India-specific conditions to speed safer technology to market.

Overview

  • Built across 20 acres at Takwe near Talegaon in Pune, the facility recreates Indian road networks and traffic scenarios for repeatable on-road ADAS validation.
  • ARAI said construction is over 90% complete and on schedule to finish before the ADAS Show on December 12, where live testing demonstrations are planned.
  • The project is backed by the Ministry of Heavy Industries’ Capital Goods Scheme and sustained ARAI investment, with a Rs 500 crore commitment met and current spending exceeding Rs 200 crore annually.
  • ARAI is leveraging about 37,000 km of driving data from the Golden Quadrilateral and 20 cities to support testing, simulation, and certification workflows at the site.
  • The December event, organised by Aayera, is slated to feature demonstrations and participation from major automakers and technology suppliers, including Honda, BMW, MG, Mahindra, Tata, Maruti Suzuki, Bosch, ZF, Valeo, Harman, Dassault, NXP, and UNO MINDA.
