APTRANSCO Sets This Year Target for 55 Grid Projects Worth ₹9,319 Crore

Overview

• The utility plans to add 8,853 MVA of transformer capacity and 1,558 circuit kilometres of transmission lines to the state grid.
• New 400/220/132 kV substations are being developed at Kakinada SEZ, Achutapuram, Gudivada and Ainavalli to strengthen local supply.
• A two‑phase Battery Energy Storage System rollout of 1,500 MW (3,000 MWh) is underway to support stability, renewable integration and peak management.
• Transmission losses have fallen to 2.60% through digitisation, real‑time monitoring and network optimisation.
• Andhra Pradesh recorded a 2024–25 peak of 13,712 MW with a projection of 15,223 MW in 2025–26, as APTRANSCO operates 380 substations, 1,030 transformers totaling 71,049 MVA and over 33,000 circuit km.
