APREVIDE Closes Racing’s Stadium for Three Home Games Over Pyrotechnics at Flamengo Semifinal

Officials blamed illegal fireworks and organizational failures following prior warnings.

Overview

  • The Buenos Aires provincial agency ordered El Cilindro closed to the public for the next three home fixtures across AFA competitions, with the following three to be played without drums, trumpets, banners or other animation elements.
  • The sanction takes effect with Saturday’s match against Defensa y Justicia, which will be held behind closed doors.
  • APREVIDE cited breaches of Laws 11.929, 23.184 and 23.192, noting inspections and security footage from Oct. 29 that documented extensive pyrotechnics.
  • At least two people sustained minor burn injuries and were taken to Hospital Fiorito, according to the agency’s report.
  • Racing was labeled a repeat offender after a similar 2024 episode versus Corinthians, and while the club can appeal, the measures carry immediate sporting and financial consequences.
