Overview
- The West Bengal Board of Primary Education opened its online portal on November 19 for applications to assistant teacher posts in government-aided and government-sponsored primary and junior basic schools.
- Only TET-qualified candidates with requisite academic and teacher-training credentials may apply, with an age range of 18 to 40 and statutory relaxations for reserved categories and para teachers.
- Selection will follow a 50-mark matrix covering Madhyamik (5), Higher Secondary (10), teacher training (15), TET score (5), extra-curriculars (5) and viva voce (5), with aptitude or para-teacher experience counted where applicable.
- Application fees are set at Rs 600 for general candidates, Rs 500 for OBC-A and OBC-B, and Rs 300 for SC, ST, EWS and PwD applicants.
- Hearings on alleged irregularities in earlier recruitments have concluded in the Calcutta High Court, with a verdict awaited as CBI and ED investigations continue.
