Reshuffle in Hardware Engineering Team as Deputies Take on Expanded Roles

Tang Tan, the vice president of product design for Apple’s iPhone and Apple Watch, is leaving the company in February 2024.
Tan's departure is prompting a reshuffle within Apple's hardware engineering team, with several deputies poised to take on expanded roles.
Richard Dinh, Tan's top lieutenant, will now report directly to John Ternus, senior vice president of hardware engineering.
Kate Bergeron, who was responsible for Mac teams, will oversee the design of the Apple Watch.
Matthew Costello, who is in charge of the Beats and the HomePod smart speaker, will take over Tan's responsibilities for the design of accessories and the company's acoustics team.
