Apple's iOS 17.4 update will introduce auto-generated transcripts for podcasts in English, French, German, and Spanish, available in over 170 countries and regions.
Transcripts will be automatically generated by Apple's software shortly after a new episode is published, with a short delay for processing.
Users can view a live text version of an episode, with words highlighted as they listen, and can tap anywhere in the transcript to play the episode at that specific spot.
Podcast creators have the option to upload their own transcripts, but they must meet Apple's quality standards, including no spelling or punctuation errors.
iOS 17.4, currently in beta, is expected to be released to the public in March.
