Apple’s India iPhone Exports Top $50 Billion by December 2025

India’s IT minister confirmed the milestone, signaling continued policy support after the current incentive window ends in March 2026.

Overview

  • Officials say nearly $16 billion in iPhones were exported in the first nine months of FY26, taking cumulative shipments past $50 billion with three months still remaining in Apple’s eligibility period.
  • Apple’s footprint now includes five assembly plants—three operated by Tata and two by Foxconn—backed by about 45 suppliers producing components for domestic use and export.
  • iPhones account for roughly 75% of smartphone export value, helping make smartphones India’s top export category in FY25.
  • By comparison, Samsung exported about $17 billion worth of devices during its five-year participation from FY21 to FY25 under the same incentive scheme.
  • The government reports electronics production up sixfold and exports up eightfold over 11 years, has cleared 46 component projects, and says four semiconductor plants will start commercial production in 2026.
