Apple Unveils Dedicated Games App for iPhone, iPad and Mac

It replaces Game Center with five dedicated tabs for game discovery, library access, social challenges, leaderboards, recommendations as Apple readies its beta for a fall release.

Overview

  • The Apple Games app will arrive preinstalled on iPhone, iPad and Mac with this fall’s iOS 26, iPadOS 26 and macOS Tahoe 26 updates, replacing the aging Game Center.
  • Its five-tab layout—Home, Arcade, Play Together, Library and Search—offers personalized recommendations, Apple Arcade access and one-tap game launching.
  • The Play Together tab integrates a new Challenges feature for score-based competitions and real-time leaderboard tracking among friends.
  • A Game Overlay on Mac and iPad provides in-session access to social tools, audio controls, Bluetooth device management and battery status.
  • Apple has activated the games.apple.com domain and opened a developer beta with a public beta to follow ahead of the fall rollout.
