Apple TV+ Debuts 'The Big Cigar' Featuring André Holland as Huey P. Newton

The series, based on a true story, dramatizes Newton's escape from the FBI with Hollywood's help.

'The Big Cigar' is a six-part limited series on Apple TV+ that reenacts the thrilling escape of Huey P. Newton, founder of the Black Panther Party, from the FBI in 1974.
André Holland stars as Newton, supported by a cast including Alessandro Nivola, Tiffany Boone, and others, with Don Cheadle directing the first two episodes.
The show combines elements of a heist and biopic, portraying Newton's collaboration with Hollywood producer Bert Schneider to evade a murder charge.
Based on Joshuah Bearman's article, the series is produced by Warner Bros. Television and features a vibrant '70s aesthetic.
Premiering May 17, the series will release new episodes weekly through June 14.
