Apple Transitions COO Duties from Jeff Williams to Sabih Khan

  • Sabih Khan, a 30-year Apple veteran and current senior vice president of Operations, will officially become chief operating officer later this month.
  • Jeff Williams will relinquish COO responsibilities later this month and continue reporting to Tim Cook while overseeing the design team, Apple Watch and health engineering until his retirement late in the year.
  • After Williams’s retirement, Apple’s design team will report directly to CEO Tim Cook.
  • Since 2019, Khan has managed Apple’s global supply chain, manufacturing, logistics, procurement, product quality and supplier responsibility programs.
  • Tim Cook praised Khan for pioneering advanced manufacturing technologies, expanding the U.S. production footprint and cutting Apple’s carbon footprint by more than 60 percent.
