Overview

  • Foxconn is expected to start production in late September or October 2025 ahead of a fall 2026 release
  • Samsung Display will produce around seven to eight million foldable panels for the iPhone in 2026; Apple has placed orders for 15 to 20 million units overall
  • The device will open to a 7.8-inch OLED interior screen and close to a 5.5-inch external display in a book-style fold
  • It may measure as thin as 4.5mm when unfolded and will use under-display cameras with a refined hinge design; a Touch ID sensor could replace Face ID
  • Priced between $2,000 and $2,500, it is positioned as a luxury smartphone targeting a niche foldable market that accounts for just 1.5% of global sales
