Overview

  • Apple’s engineers and global data operations team have made the upgraded App Intents framework a top priority to resolve accuracy problems that caused earlier delays in Siri’s evolution.
  • Internal trials include apps such as Uber, Amazon, YouTube, WhatsApp, Threads, Temu and AllTrails to verify Siri’s ability to execute precise, multi-step commands by voice alone.
  • The feature is slated to debut in spring 2026 as part of iOS 26.4 (and companion updates for iPadOS, macOS and visionOS) with a staggered rollout by region and app.
  • To avoid critical mistakes in sensitive areas, Apple is weighing exclusions or restrictions for banking and health apps in the initial App Intents release.
  • Progress on the App Intents upgrade will determine schedules for future voice-dependent hardware, including a smart display and a tabletop home robot.
