Apple testing powerful new M3 Max chip for 2024 MacBook Pro

Apple is developing a new M3 chip family, with the top M3 Max variant featuring up to 16 CPU cores and 40 GPU cores.
The highest-end M3 Max chip is currently being tested in an upcoming MacBook Pro model slated for 2024.
Compared to the current M2 Max, the M3 Max promises significant performance gains of up to 20% faster computing and 30% faster graphics.
Lower-end M3 chips with 8 CPU cores are also in development for new MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac mini models expected to launch in late 2022 and 2023.
The new 3nm manufacturing process for M3 chips should enable improved efficiency and battery life alongside the performance gains.
