Apple Ships 26.2 Release Candidates Across Platforms, Quickly Revises tvOS Build

A rapid second tvOS/HomePod build signals final bug fixes before an expected mid-December public rollout.

Overview

  • Release Candidate builds for iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, visionOS, and macOS are now available to developers and public beta testers, with iOS/iPadOS at build 23C52.
  • Apple issued a revised tvOS/HomePod RC a day after the first (now build 23K53 from 23K51), a move typically made to address an issue found during final testing.
  • iOS 26.2 adds a Liquid Glass Lock Screen slider, recalibrated Sleep Scores, offline lyrics in Apple Music, AI-generated chapters and follow links in Podcasts, and a refreshed Apple News layout.
  • New privacy and utility touches include AirDrop one-time codes for sharing with non-contacts, expanded AirPods Live Translation in the EU, and options like disabling pinned conversations in CarPlay Messages.
  • Platform-specific changes include restored drag-and-drop gestures for Split View and Slide Over in iPadOS, plus tvOS features to create profiles without an Apple Account and a kids mode that limits content.
