Apple Set to Launch New iMac and MacBook Pros in Late October, Says Bloomberg

iMac and MacBook Pro models due for an update may feature a new M3 chip; high demand and shipping delays suggest that Apple has a launch planned for late October.

  • Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports Apple is set to launch a new iMac and MacBook Pro models at the end of October based on reports from sources and current retail supplies. The 24-inch M1 iMac, released in April 2021, and the 13-inch M2 MacBook Pro, released in June 2022, are likely candidates for upgrades.
  • Current shipping estimates for several configurations of iMac and MacBook Pro models indicate delays until November, suggesting an upcoming product launch. Further suggesting a planned launch, Apple's earnings call is set for November, instead of October.
  • Gurman speculates that the new iMac model will feature a new chip, possibly M3, as part of its upgrade. It's unclear if other iMac models will feature M2 chips, which would still be an upgrade as they have skipped M2 entirely so far.
  • Despite a refresh in January 2023 for the 14- and- 16-inch Pro laptops, the 13-inch MacBook Pro is overdue for an update. The iMac is also nearing its third year without a notable update.
  • Gurman anticipates a limited degree of innovation for the new MacBook models, foreseeing changes mainly in processors and minor improvements to displays. He predicts a new iMac Pro in 2025 and OLED MacBook Pros in 2026 with updated designs and features.
