Overview
- Apple is expected to rebrand its operating systems with year-based identifiers such as iOS 26, macOS 26, watchOS 26, tvOS 26, iPadOS 26 and visionOS 26 at WWDC on June 9.
- The redesign, internally codenamed Solarium, is expected to introduce translucent 3D materials and a unified interface drawn from visionOS across all devices.
- macOS 26 is expected to drop support for Intel-based Macs including the 2018 MacBook Pro, 2017 iMac Pro, 2018 Mac mini and the 2020 Intel MacBook Air.
- macOS 26 is expected to support only newer hardware such as MacBook Pro models from 2019 onward, iMac models from 2020 onward, Mac Pro from 2019, and M1-based Mac mini, Mac Studio and MacBook Air.
- Apple plans to give third-party developers access to its AI models through the upcoming Apple Intelligence platform to foster broader integration.
