Overview
- Apple began preorders on October 28 and said the new 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M6 chip and the updated 24-inch iMac will reach customers and stores the week of November 6, with regional prices published for markets including Spain and Mexico.
- The M6 chip, described by Apple as a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU with Neural Accelerators on every GPU core and a dual 16-core Neural Engine, is billed to run large language models locally and power macOS 27’s Siri AI and Apple Intelligence features.
- Separately Apple introduced the first MacBook Pro models with an integrated PROLED XDR touchscreen in 14- and 16-inch sizes that use M5 Pro and M5 Max processors, with up to 2,000 nits peak brightness, Dynamic Island, and a new hinge and display engineering to support touch.
- macOS 27 ships now with conversational Siri AI, Apple Intelligence features such as automatic Safari tab organization and local model processing, and developer updates for Creator Studio, Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro and Pixelmator Pro to add touch and AI workflow tools.
- Coverage flagged product segmentation and base configurations as points of debate, noting an iMac offered in two M6 variants and limited base storage options, while Apple highlighted sustainability steps and positioned the launches against competitors pushing on-device AI.
