Apple Rolls Out iOS 26.1 With 56 Security Fixes as It Pauses 26.2 Beta on C1 Devices

Apple pairs the security rollout with a temporary block on iOS 26.2 beta for C1‑modem devices.

Overview

  • iOS 26.1 is now available for iPhone 11 and newer, delivering 56 documented security fixes alongside usability tweaks.
  • Apple’s notes and expert analyses highlight patches to WebKit, the kernel and Stolen Device Protection, with no active exploits reported but urgent advice to update.
  • Apple has also released iOS and iPadOS 18.7.2 for those staying on iOS 18, bringing many of the same security patches and marked as recommended for all users.
  • Following the first developer build, Apple stopped signing iOS/iPadOS 26.2 beta for iPhone Air, iPhone 16e and cellular M5 iPad Pro models using C1/C1X modems, causing the update to appear but fail to install.
  • iOS 26.2 remains in testing with features such as a Lock Screen Liquid Glass slider, Reminders alarms, Podcasts upgrades, revised Sleep Score and EU expansion of AirPods Live Translation, with Apple indicating a December public release.
