Overview
- The free update began its global release on September 15 at 10 a.m. PT and is now available to download as Apple continues a staged rollout.
- Compatibility starts with iPhone SE (2nd generation) and iPhone 11 or newer, while iPhone XR, XS, and earlier models are not supported.
- The release introduces the Liquid Glass interface plus live translation in Phone, FaceTime and Messages, expanded Visual Intelligence, a revamped Camera and Photos, and a new Games app.
- Privacy and call tools include Call Screening for unknown numbers, Hold Assist for time on hold, and spam filtering in Phone and Messages.
- iPhone 17 models arrive September 19 with iOS 26 preinstalled, and Apple also released iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, watchOS 26, tvOS 26 and visionOS 26.
