Overview
- Apple began distributing version 27.2 to iPhone, iPad, Mac, watch, Apple TV, visionOS and HomePod software this week, replacing the 27.x line and skipping a reserved 27.1 build for the iPhone Duo.
- The update adds Siri AI language support for French, Korean, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish while German support remains absent and Siri AI stays restricted in the EU pending talks with regulators.
- To address German and select EU competition cases Apple changed its app tracking prompt by removing the word “tracking,” allowing developers to show more detail, and enabling re-prompts every 12 months.
- Within the EU Apple promises simplified sideloading with fewer prompts for installing apps from the web or alternative stores while non-EU behavior remains unchanged.
- iOS 27.2 delivers device features such as Dual Capture and Apple Pencil support for the iPhone Duo, Apple Intelligence suggestions in Messages, Home app alarms, Apple TV profiles and more than 160 security fixes that users are urged to install.
