Overview

  • Developers can access the macOS Tahoe developer beta as of June 9, with a public beta set for next month ahead of a full release later in 2025.
  • Supported devices include all Apple silicon–powered MacBook Air and Pro models from 2020 onward, alongside the 16-inch MacBook Pro (2019), iMac and Mac mini from 2020, Mac Studio from 2022, and Mac Pro from 2019.
  • Several Intel-based Macs that run macOS Sequoia will be excluded, notably the 2020 Intel MacBook Air, all 2018–2019 MacBook Pro variants, 2019 iMac models, the 2017 iMac Pro, and the 2018 Mac mini.
  • This change underscores Apple's continuing shift away from Intel processors toward its proprietary M-series silicon.
  • Apple will continue to provide security updates for macOS Sequoia for at least two more years to support users of unsupported hardware.
