Apple Reportedly Prototyping AI-Powered Smart Hub, Robot and Security Cameras

Rumors say Apple is testing several AI-integrated home devices on prototype schedules that could shift as it refines a voice-first OS driven by an LLM-backed Siri.

Overview

  • Apple is prototyping a 7-inch multiuser smart home hub codenamed J490 running a new voice-first OS and targeting a mid-2026 introduction.
  • The company is prototyping a movable tabletop robot called J595 with a 7-inch display set to follow users during conversations and aiming for a 2027 release.
  • Apple is developing a range of battery-powered security cameras and a Face ID–capable doorbell to automate home functions and position itself against Amazon’s Ring and Google’s Nest.
