Overview
- According to Bloomberg reports, Apple is developing a standalone gaming hub app to be preinstalled on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV.
- The new app is said to replace Game Center and bring together achievements, leaderboards, a curated editorial feed and direct links to the App Store’s games section.
- On Mac, the app reportedly will support titles installed outside the App Store, offering a unified launcher for Steam or other storefront downloads.
- The drive follows Apple’s acquisition of RAC7 Games and reflects that games and in-app purchases generate roughly two-thirds of App Store revenue.
- The gaming app is expected to be unveiled at WWDC on June 9 before launching with iOS 19 and the next macOS and tvOS updates in September.
