Apple Releases iOS 26.2 With Urgent Security Fixes as Leak Points to Siri Overhaul and Health Push

Apple pushed the update on a rare Friday to address WebKit flaws reportedly used in targeted attacks.

Overview

  • iOS 26.2 is now available for iPhone 11 and newer, adding a Lock Screen Liquid Glass opacity slider, alarms for Reminders, offline Apple Music lyrics, Podcasts chapters with linked mentions, and AirDrop one-time verification codes.
  • Apple cites more than two dozen security fixes, including two WebKit vulnerabilities it says may have been exploited in highly sophisticated, targeted attacks on pre‑iOS 26 devices.
  • The release also updates safety features with richer emergency maps in the U.S., brings Live Translation to AirPods users in the EU, and improves Games library filters and controller support.
  • Separately, reporters say a leaked internal iOS 26 build flags work for iOS 26.4 such as an Apple Intelligence–powered Siri overhaul, a redesigned Health app that could underpin a paid Health+ service, third‑party card Autofill, Freeform folders, an Apple TV Sports Tier, device‑integrity checks for Apple ID, and “Precise Outdoor Location” for AirPods.
  • The same leak points to iOS 27 enhancements like improved Photos collections and a revised AirPods pairing system, plus early iOS 28 work on Apple Watch sleep metrics such as time in bed and a Health app for macOS, all unconfirmed and subject to change.
