Apple releases emergency software updates for iOS and Mac to fix security vulnerabilities

  • Apple released iOS 16.5.1, iPadOS 16.5.1, macOS 13.4.1, and watchOS 9.5.2 to fix two known security flaws that were actively being exploited.
  • The updates fix a vulnerability in the Kernel that could allow an attacker to execute code with Kernel privileges and a flaw in WebKit that could enable an attacker to execute code via malicious web content..
  • Experts recommend all users update their iPhones and Macs immediately to ensure security.
  • Users with iPhones released in late 2017 or later should update to iOS 16.5.1 while older iPhones should update to iOS 15.7.7.
  • The updates also fix a charging issue with the Lightning to USB3 camera adapter.
