Apple Refreshes 24‑Inch iMac With M6 Chip

The update centers on a faster M6 processor, the Apple N1 wireless chip for Wi‑Fi 7 and a 2.5Gb Ethernet port placed inside the bundled power adapter.

Overview

  • Apple announced the new 24‑inch iMac on October 27 and will open preorders on Oct. 29 with retail availability on Nov. 6.
  • The entry M6 configuration starts at RMB 12,499 and the higher M6 model with a 12‑core CPU and 12‑core GPU starts at RMB 13,999 in China.
  • Apple says the M6 iMac delivers large performance gains over Intel iMacs and top M6 models include dual 16‑core neural engines for faster machine‑learning tasks.
  • The 2.5Gb Ethernet jack is integrated into the power adapter so buyers of the base M6 iMac must pay an optional RMB 200 to add it while the higher‑tier 12‑core model includes it as standard.
  • The iMac keeps the same 24‑inch 4480×2520 60Hz display, 12MP Center Stage camera and multiple color options, and now ships with the Apple N1 chip for Wi‑Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 which boosts wireless throughput and lower latency for users on modern networks.
