Overview
- Apple removed a counterfeit Ledger Live app from the Mac App Store after at least $9.5 million was stolen from more than 50 users.
- The fake listing copied Ledger’s wallet and asked people to enter recovery seed phrases that gave thieves control of their coins.
- Investigators, including ZachXBT, traced the stolen funds to KuCoin deposit addresses linked to a service known as AudiA6.
- Losses included $3.23 million in USDT on April 9, $2.08 million in USDC on April 11, and $1.95 million across BTC, ETH, and stETH on April 8.
- Apple has not explained how the clone cleared App Store review, and ZachXBT said the scale of losses could lead to a class-action lawsuit.
