Apple Pulls Brief iPhone Air MagSafe Battery Firmware Update 8B25

Apple gave no details on the rollback, consistent with its quiet, undocumented process for accessory firmware.

Overview

  • The withdrawn build was 8B25, which appeared in Settings as version 99.0, replacing 8A351 shown as 91.0.
  • Distribution stopped shortly after the rollout was noticed, and Apple has not indicated when it might return.
  • Accessory firmware installs automatically in the background, and users who did not receive the update will stop seeing it.
  • Owners can check the pack’s firmware via Settings > General > About > iPhone Air MagSafe Battery and can attempt to force an update by connecting the battery to a Mac.
  • This was only the second firmware for the iPhone Air–exclusive MagSafe Battery since its September launch, first spotted by Aaron Perris on X.
