Overview
- Apple will shift to year-based identifiers for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS and visionOS, renumbering this fall’s releases as “26” to simplify its software lineup
- A sweeping redesign codenamed “Solarium” will introduce unified interfaces across devices using visionOS-style translucent materials and rounded window elements
- macOS 26 is set to drop support for several Intel-based Macs — including 2018 MacBook Pro, 2017 iMac Pro, 2018 Mac mini and 2020 Intel MacBook Air — furthering the Apple Silicon transition
- The company will open its AI models to third-party developers and upgrade Siri with large-language-model capabilities for more advanced on-device assistance
- Developer previews will debut at WWDC on June 9, 2025, with public beta testing in July and full releases scheduled for September 2025
