Apple Opens iOS 27 Public Beta With New Siri AI

Enrolled testers can try a conversational Siri AI with top features limited by device hardware, a request-only waitlist and regional rules ahead of a planned September release.

Overview

  • Apple released the first public betas of iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27 on Monday, and the public builds match the third developer beta so enrolled users can download them through the Apple Beta Software Program.
  • The headline change is a rebuilt Siri branded Siri AI that can hold back-and-forth conversations, search the web, read on-screen content and draw on personal context across Mail, Messages, Photos and other apps, plus a dedicated Siri app and systemwide writing tools.
  • Access to the most advanced Apple Intelligence features is gated: users must request access or join a waitlist and only newer hardware meets the RAM and chip requirements needed to run full Siri AI capabilities.
  • iOS 27 also brings visible refinements and speed gains — a Liquid Glass transparency slider, faster app launches and photo loading, quicker AirDrop, expanded AI tools in Camera/Photos/Safari/Shortcuts, and updated child-safety controls.
  • Apple and outlets warn public betas can be unstable so testers should back up devices and use secondary hardware, and Apple will iterate on features and regional availability as it readies a broader September rollout.
