Overview
- Apple announced developers can now submit iPhone Duo‑optimized apps built or recompiled with Xcode 27.1 Release Candidate and the iOS 27.1 SDK will let apps resize to fill the Duo’s inner display.
- Apps built with Xcode 27.1 will receive an App Store badge that signals Duo optimization and developers must use Device Hub and new templates to test poses and orientations for the foldable layout.
- Apple set an App Store policy that from April 2027 any app or game submission must include screenshots sized for the iPhone Duo, and it published updated preview and screenshot specs now.
- Developers are being urged to submit updates immediately because App Store review timing can delay approvals and risk apps not being available when preorders begin on October 16 and devices ship on October 23.
- Apple is offering workshops, documentation and tooling to speed adaptation, but developers still face engineering work to recompile, adjust multi‑pose layouts, and validate UX across the Duo’s two displays.
