Apple Modifies EU Core Tech Fee, Extends Protections for Developers

Apple has introduced new exemptions and protections for developers in response to the EU's Digital Markets Act, aiming to mitigate potential financial burdens.

Apple's updated Core Technology Fee (CTF) policy now exempts non-commercial developers and provides a three-year ramp-up period for small developers.
The changes, effective immediately, include a fee exemption for developers of free apps and a delayed fee implementation for those earning under €10 million.
Developers can now opt for Alternative Business Terms for Apps in the EU, which will also apply to iPadOS following its designation under the DMA.
The EU's scrutiny of Apple's fee structure continues, amid concerns it may circumvent obligations to open up the App Store to competition.
