Overview
- Apple announced Tuesday that it has partnered with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric to produce the Apple Home Collection, a curated set of cameras, a video doorbell, a smart deadbolt, thermostats and sensors.
- Devices will begin selling in December with select accessories arriving in early 2027, and Apple and partners published U.S., Canadian and U.K. availability and retail prices for the initial models.
- The products work natively in the Apple Home app with one‑tap iPhone setup, support Thread and Matter for interoperability, and use iCloud+ HomeKit Secure Video to store camera footage.
- Key hardware features include LG cameras that record up to 2.5K and recognize people and packages, an LG smart deadbolt that uses Ultra Wideband for proximity unlock and local operation without internet, and thermostats with Adaptive Temperature controls.
- Apple will offer ADT professional installation and a Clean Energy Guidance feature only in the contiguous U.S., which leaves users outside that region responsible for self-install or third‑party support and may limit some service features.
