Overview

  • On Thursday, August 6, Apple released macOS Tahoe 26.6.1 (25G76), Sequoia 15.7.9 (24G830), and Sonoma 14.8.9 (23J631) as out-of-band security updates that users can get from System Settings → Software Update.
  • The updates fix a Screen Sharing authentication bypass that could let an attacker on the same network authenticate without valid credentials and gain remote access to a Mac session.
  • Apple assigned the bug CVE-2026-65400 and credited researcher Alfredo Pesoli via Bynario Atlas for reporting the issue.
  • Apple shipped the builds without developer or public betas to speed remediation, and installing the updates requires downloading via Software Update and restarting the Mac.
