Apple iPhone Exports From India Jump 75% to $10 Billion in Half-Year, With Record September

Industry estimates tie the surge to PLI incentives alongside capacity added by new Tata and Foxconn plants.

Overview

  • Apple exported about $10 billion worth of iPhones from India in April–September of FY26, a roughly 75% year-on-year increase, with September shipments alone estimated at $1.25 billion.
  • The manufacturing ramp follows new capacity coming online in April 2025 at Tata Electronics’ Hosur facility and Foxconn’s Bengaluru unit, expanding Apple’s Indian footprint to five factories.
  • Apple now drives more than three quarters of India’s $13.4 billion smartphone exports in H1 FY26, as overall smartphone outbound shipments rose about 59% year on year.
  • A growing share of India-assembled iPhones goes to the United States, with 78% headed there in H1 2025 and September smartphone exports to the U.S. reported at a record $900 million.
  • India’s production-linked incentive scheme is propelling investment and output, while U.S. tariff actions and ongoing trade reviews are influencing where and how shipments are routed.
