Apple Halts Online Sales of Watch Series 9, Ultra 2 Amid Patent Dispute

The tech giant is pursuing legal and technical options to bring the devices back to customers as soon as possible.

Apple has halted online sales of its Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 in the U.S. following a patent dispute with medical technology company Masimo.
The U.S. International Trade Commission ruled that the devices violated patents held by Masimo, specifically related to blood oxygen monitoring.
Physical Apple Stores will end sales of the Series 9 and Ultra 2 on December 24, but other stores, such as Best Buy or Walmart, can still carry the watches.
Apple will also stop replacing out-of-warranty Apple Watch models with the blood oxygen feature covered by the patents in the ITC ruling.
Apple is pursuing a range of legal and technical options to ensure that Apple Watch is available to customers, including looking into ways to bring the devices back as soon as possible.
