Apple Gears Up for VisionOS-Inspired Overhaul and Scaled-Back AI at WWDC

Overview

  • Apple will rename its next major releases as iOS 26, macOS 26 “Tahoe Lake,” iPadOS 26, watchOS 26, tvOS 26 and visionOS 26 to match their year of release.
  • An interface refresh codenamed Solarium applies a visionOS-inspired “glass” aesthetic with translucent menus, rounded icons and consistent design elements across devices.
  • iOS 26 will debut an AI-powered battery management mode that adapts to usage patterns and a Live Translation feature for Siri and AirPods to convert languages in real time.
  • Apple plans to open its on-device AI foundation models to third-party developers, enabling tighter integration of machine-learning features into apps.
  • WWDC will begin with a June 9 keynote at Apple Park, followed by over 100 technical and lab sessions showcasing new SwiftUI enhancements and a preview of Swift Assist.
