Overview
- An updated Apple support document moves the end of support for the previous Apple Home/HomeKit architecture from fall 2025 to February 10, 2026.
- Users must migrate in the Home app via Home Settings → Software Update, and Apple says homes that are not updated manually may be upgraded automatically.
- Every controlling device must meet minimum versions: iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, macOS 13.1, tvOS 16.2, and watchOS 9.2, or it will lose Home app access after the cutoff.
- The revamped architecture delivers faster, more reliable performance, adds guest access, robot vacuum support, and Activity History, and is optimized for large HomeKit and Matter setups.
- Invited users on older software will also lose access, and an iPad no longer serves as a home hub on the latest Home, requiring a HomePod or Apple TV instead.
