Apple Expands Tap to Pay on iPhone to Chile and UAE

The feature allows merchants to use iPhones as contactless payment terminals without additional hardware.

Tap to Pay on iPhone is now available in Chile and the UAE, enabling businesses to accept contactless payments directly on iPhones.
The feature supports Apple Pay, contactless credit and debit cards, and other NFC-enabled digital wallets, with encrypted transactions for enhanced security.
Merchants require an iPhone XS or newer to use the service, which eliminates the need for additional hardware like card readers.
In Chile, payment platform SumUp is the first to support the feature, while the UAE sees support from Adyen, Magnati, and Network International.
Originally launched in the US in February 2022, Tap to Pay on iPhone is now available in over 20 countries, including Australia, Japan, and the UK.
