Apple Expands Liquid Glass Controls in iOS 26.1, Tests Stronger Clock Slider in 26.2 Beta

The latest tweaks push customization toward clearer lock screen readability after complaints about the translucent design.

Overview

  • Apple’s iOS 26.2 developer beta 1 increases the Lock Screen clock’s Liquid Glass slider range, letting the time appear nearly fully transparent or very opaque.
  • The enhanced slider is accessed by pressing and holding the Lock Screen, choosing Customize, tapping the clock, and adjusting the Liquid Glass control.
  • This per-clock control complements, rather than replaces, the new systemwide Clear/Tinted toggle that arrived with iOS 26.1.
  • iOS 26.1 is now publicly available with the Clear/Tinted Liquid Glass option in Settings > Display & Brightness > Liquid Glass, applying a more opaque look across apps and system UI.
  • Apple says iOS 26.1 delivers extensive security patches reported to total roughly 50 fixes, plus quality-of-life changes like slide-to-stop alarms, an option to disable Camera Control on newer iPhones, and Apple Music mini player swipes; in the 26.2 beta, clock resizing still works only with the default font.
