Overview
- Apple announced new solar and wind projects across Greece, Italy, Latvia, Poland, and Romania that will add 650 megawatts and deliver over 1 million megawatt-hours for users by 2030.
- The portfolio includes a 110 MW solar project in Greece with HELLENiQ ENERGY, a 129 MW mix in Italy, a 40 MW solar array in Poland with Econergy, a 99 MW wind farm in Romania from Nala Renewables, and a 110 MW solar farm in Latvia with European Energy, plus an operational 131 MW solar array in Segovia, Spain.
- Apple estimates Europe needs roughly 3,000 GWh of new renewable generation per year to match customer charging by 2030, and says these projects will supply more than 1,000 GWh annually, covering about one third of that requirement.
- Apple is using mechanisms such as long-term power purchase agreements, direct projects, and equity stakes to secure construction and grid impact.
- In parallel, Apple reported that over 90% of its manufacturing in China now runs on renewable energy as suppliers launch a roughly ¥1 billion ($150 million) fund to accelerate clean‑energy infrastructure there.
