Apple Expands Apple Watch Hypertension Alerts to Canada, Singapore, and Bahrain

Apple’s machine‑learning tool reviews 30 days of optical heart‑sensor data to flag possible chronic high blood pressure.

Overview

  • The Hypertension Notifications feature is live today for Apple Watch users in Canada, with Singapore and Bahrain added to the rollout.
  • Availability requires watchOS 26 on Apple Watch Series 9, Series 10, Series 11, Ultra 2, or Ultra 3, and the feature is not supported on Apple Watch SE models.
  • The watch passively analyzes 30 days of optical heart‑sensor patterns using machine learning to identify signs consistent with chronic hypertension without measuring or displaying blood pressure and without calibration.
  • Apple says the algorithm was trained on data from over 100,000 participants and validated in a clinical study of more than 2,000 people, following last month’s initial launch in the U.S. and 150+ regions.
  • If notified, users are prompted to log seven days of cuff readings in the Health app and to seek clinician review, and the tool is not intended for those under 22, users already diagnosed with hypertension, or during pregnancy.
