Apple commits 'multibillion dollars' to build 5G iPhone components in U.S. with Broadcom

Apple announced a new partnership with Broadcom to develop 5G radio frequency components and wireless connectivity components as part of Apple's $430 billion investment in the U.S. economy.
Broadcom will design and build 5G components, including FBAR filters, in its America-based facilities as part of the deal.
The partnership will enable Broadcom to continue to invest in critical automation projects and upskilling with technicians and engineers.
Apple already supports more than 1,100 jobs in Broadcom's Fort Collins, Colorado, FBAR filter manufacturing facility.
The deal comes amid rumors Apple is developing its own in-house 5G modem and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chips to move away from relying on Qualcomm and Broadcom.
