Apple Clarifies HomeView Packaging, Power Specs and Accessory Costs

The company’s wall-mounted HomeView ships without a mount, cable or charger, a move that shifts installation and power costs onto buyers.

Overview

  • Apple launched the 7-inch HomeView smart display with A18 silicon and Siri AI and opened pre-orders this week with shipments scheduled to begin November 13.
  • The tabletop model includes a 30W USB-C adapter and 1.5m cable while the wall-mounted model ships with only the device and documentation, requiring customers to buy mounts and power separately.
  • Apple published exact USB-C power requirements to avoid a “Not Enough Power” or “Power Adapter Not Supported” warning, specifying at least 30W (15V at 2A) for the tabletop unit and at least 20W (9V at 2.22A) for the wall-mounted unit.
  • Apple is selling multiple mounting and power options at tiered prices and advising professional installation for hardwired and PoE mounts, and the company’s service page lists an estimated $279 out-of-warranty repair fee versus a $39 AppleCare+ accidental-damage fee.
  • Apple said select Apple Home Collection accessories from LG and Schneider Electric will begin shipping in December and reviewers and retailers have already raised questions about HomeView’s clear buyer and offered small preorder discounts.
