Overview
- Apple seeded the first developer betas for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, visionOS and HomePod 27.2 on Sept. 16, moving directly to 27.2 rather than opening a public 27.1 cycle.
- Apple deliberately skipped public 27.1 testing to prevent iPhone Duo–specific code from leaking, because the Duo will ship on its own iOS 27.1 branch when the device arrives on Oct. 23.
- The iOS 27.2 beta surfaces a redesigned Health app that uses Apple Intelligence for Insights, Longevity and Health Age features, but key parts such as lab ordering and personalized recommendations are device‑ and locale‑restricted and will roll out in later betas.
- Siri AI language support expands beyond U.S. English in the 27.2 betas with French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish slated to be available in October, and the betas also include other platform changes such as dual capture for Group FaceTime and Apple TV profiles on iPhone and iPad.
- Developers must use updated SDK/Xcode tools to target Duo features and should expect staged rollouts and server gating; Apple says some Apple Intelligence features removed from the initial 27 release will return in a future update after more testing.
