Overview
- Apple released the watchOS and iOS 27.3 developer betas on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, bringing Live Rewind and Siri Recap to testers on Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 paired with iPhone 16 or later.
- Live Rewind lets a user double-press the Digital Crown to view a text snippet of the prior 15 seconds of speech that disappears after about 30 seconds unless saved, while Siri Recap generates brief, high-level summaries that auto-delete after seven days unless the user saves them.
- Apple says the system processes raw audio inside the S11 Secure Enclave on the watch and iPhone, converts audio to condensed text on-device, uses Private Cloud Compute to generate summaries, and deletes intermediate material with saved items end-to-end encrypted in the Siri app when iCloud two-factor authentication and a device passcode are enabled.
- The features are opt-in and include user-facing cues such as an audible chime, full-screen animation, and a microphone indicator; they are limited to supported hardware, English-first rollout, excluded regions and age groups, and they do not run while headphones or active noise cancellation are in use.
- Early hands-on reports note occasional transcription errors and raise bystander-notice concerns, and Apple plans broader public beta testing before a reported December release so real-world accuracy and privacy behavior can be further evaluated.
