Overview
- Apple introduced horizontal Reachability for the iPhone Duo in the iOS 27.3 developer beta released on Tuesday, November 3, so users can test the feature before a public beta arrives.
- A short swipe from the left or right screen edge moves the opposite side's content toward the thumb, making controls on the 5.4-inch outer and 7.6-inch inner screens easier to reach.
- Reachability is turned on by default after updating and can be toggled in Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Reachability.
- The software change answers early complaints about the Duo's extra-wide outer layout but does not change ongoing launch issues such as constrained supply and reported hinge-area display cracks.
- Developers have been preparing Duo-optimized apps with Xcode 27.1 and Device Hub tools, and iOS 27.3 also bundles other updates like Safari vertical tabs and adaptive dark mode ahead of a likely mid-December stable release.
