Overview

  • Apple completed its first-ever game studio acquisition by purchasing the two-person developer RAC7 in May 2025.
  • RAC7’s team, best known for the Apple Arcade launch title Sneaky Sasquatch, will join Apple as an internal studio to expand the game.
  • Apple described the acquisition as a “unique circumstance” and pledged to continue supporting hundreds of third-party titles on Apple Arcade.
  • Bloomberg reports that Apple will unveil a dedicated Games app at its Worldwide Developers Conference on June 9, 2025 that consolidates game launches, achievements, leaderboards and communications.
  • The new hub is designed to replace Game Center by providing a unified portal for gaming on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV.
